I’m Peter Jordan, I’m an attorney with the Jordan Balkema Elder Law Center servicing families in northern Michigan.
When I graduated from law school in 1969, I knew that I wanted to be in the estate planning area of the law. I enjoyed the financial end of it, I
enjoyed the taxes, I enjoyed working with the people, saving the people the taxes in saving them probate expenses.
But what I did when I left law school is I went to work for the IRS The IRS in the estate and gift tax division. I was an attorney in that division and my job was to audit estate tax returns. So they taught me all the ins and outs of the taxes, of the estate taxes…
And after a couple of years I decided that I wanted to go on the other side of the table.
I wanted to represent clients to show them how to save taxes and how to save the probate expenses.
That’s what I’ve been doing in the Big Rapids area and northern Michigan since 1970.
Our firm is unique from other firms in a couple of different ways
Number one, We want to help our clients. So we offer a one hour free conference to their particular situation and how we can help them.
The other thing is when we do an estate plan for a client we charge a flat fee, they know what the fee is ahead of time, and that fee includes not only the preparation of all of the documents and all of our conferences but it also includes any conferences or telephone conferences.
After we’re done and we give our clients peace of mind. Peace of mind that they’ve arranged their assets in such a way that they know how it’s going to be distributed they know who’s going to be in charge and they know where things are going to go.
